TOKIO MARINE INSURANCE VIETNAM ACCOMPANIES LAO CAI PROVINCE TO RECOVER FROM TYPHOON 3 THROUGH “CLEAN WATER & SCHOOL RECONSTRUCTION” PROJECT
News
Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) caused severe damage, significantly impacting the lives and activities of teachers and students across many schools in Lao Cai province, one of the hardest-hit areas in the country in terms of human and material losses. To join hands with the people and the education sector of Lao Cai, Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam has launched the “Clean Water for Children” project – donating 20 high-capacity water purifiers and contributing to the reconstruction of school facilities in Lao Cai.
In fact, the recent floods caused by Typhoon Yagi have left many schools in Lao Cai facing severe challenges as their water sources have been polluted by landslides. The lack of clean water has not only disrupted daily activities but also caused significant health risks to thousands of kindergarten, primary, and secondary school students at locations ranging from central areas to remote regions. The post-storm terrain disruption has made restoring clean water systems exceedingly difficult.
In this situation, Tokio Marine Insurance Vietnam (TMIV) has discussed with representatives of the Lao Cai Department of Education to understand the situation and propose solutions to support schools in overcoming difficulties through the “Clean Water for Children” project. This initiative involves donating 20 high-capacity RO Kangaroo water purifiers to 20 schools in five provinces: Bat Xat, Van Ban, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong, and Bao Yen in Lao Cai province. This solution contributes to ensuring a safe and clean water supply, helping to minimize health risks and support recovery after the disaster.
